Heads or Tails ~ Down On The Farm

.

I am participating in the Heads or Tails Meme for the first time this week. I think it looks really fun!

Today's topic is Down on the Farm. As a girl who grew up on a farm, this one is not all that hard. I miss living on a farm and dream of the day when we can move the family to our own little rural paradise. I think growing up around animals is good for children. It sure makes for some wonderful childhood memories.

When I think of the farm, so many thoughts come to mind. I think of helping harvest peanuts, running barefoot down country roads, chasing fireflies, eating big chunks of juicy watermelon in the front yard, and catching catfish out of the stock tank. In my mind I see myself trompin' through the mud in my boots, holding my grandpa's hand as we head out to get on the tractor. I see myself in the kitchen with my grandma putting up pickles. I see the horrified look on my DH's face when he had to help cut calves the first time. I see the delight on my toddler's face as he chases toads under the bug zapper in the evening. Yes, some of these may seem strange to non country folk, but they are all sweet memories to me. Life on the farm is something I terribly miss!

Pimento Cheese On Wheat

Do you ever have one of those days when you just can't win? That is my day today. I am pretty sure that I have miffed every last soul I've come in contact with, other than my children. I hate days like today!

Late last week, I asked DH what he'd like packed in his lunches this week. His reply was pimento cheese sandwiches on wheat. Guess what? That's what he got. He called me ten minutes ago and asked if his pimento cheese was on white. Um, no you asked for wheat, I bought wheat just for you, they are on wheat. "Well, white would have been nice for a change!" What?! It's Tuesday, you needed a change on the second day you were eating the lunch you requested? Give me a break! How was I supposed to know he needed a change? Please forgive my "lunch radar" for not working properly!

So, it's one of those days when you can't do anything right, even when you are doing what you were asked to do. Making pimento cheese sandwiches, giving an opinion on your sisters new boyfriend, baking a cake, etc... Every last thing has been something I was asked to do, yet the way I executed the action was "wrong". So I'm thinking DH can pack his own darn lunch the rest of the week, sis shouldn't ask what I think if she really doesn't want to know, and my mom should be a little more specific about what kind of cake she wants me to bake for a funeral or she can do it herself! Honestly people!

I am going to go deep clean my bathroom now, and hope I do it "right", lol. Then I am going to soak in a tub full of bubbles and read a great novel until I am good and ready to get out. After the butt chewing I've survived this morning, I deserve some me time!

Hairbrush Jacuzzi

I love mornings. Getting up before everyone else, enjoying that first cup of coffee, savoring the quiet. Then dashing through the shower, giving my face an invigorating apricot scrub, getting ready to face the day. This morning I was actually singing in the shower! I was energized, pumped up, and ready to face the day!

Then I started looking for my hair brush. It was not on the shelf it belonged on. So, I ventured out of the bathroom, wrapped in a robe, towel on my head , and began questioning the whole household. No one had seen it. I even had one of my own lines used on me to the tune of "I don't use your brush Mommy. You should be more responsible." Argh! I know I put it away last night, so where did the darn thing go? Guess. You'll never guess. It was in the toilet. Yes, you read that right, the toilet. Another round of questioning and the entire household is innocent. no one knows how it got there. Of course not. All I know is that Mommy did not put her brush in the potty. Life with kids is such an adventure! photo by Darwin Bell

It sure is Monday. I can't wait to see how the rest of the day unfolds. But, I am grateful it was my hairbrush swimming in the potty instead of my toothbrush!

Happy Monday!
